GATE - Gypsyville Area Team for the Environment

Community improvement project

Number of participants 4

Upkeep of public areas in the estate, including keeping paths and verges clear, removal of graffiti, repair of vandalism, clearing results of fly tipping and keeping open spaces clear of rubbish.

Also included will be assisting residents with minor repairs to properties. This may include the fitting of security and disabled equipment; minor decorating jobs and repairs to fences.

Qualifications available include those relating to the construction industry, and at a level suitable for the participant. Also available will be Basic Skills Training, including Wordpower & Numberpower.

This project will be based on Gypsyville to work with the residents groups and the various landlords to carry out basic and routine environmental works. The project will be delivered by the Local Labour Initiative in partnership with Joblink.

Job Search will be conducted on a weekly basis, along with one day’s qualification training per week. Assistance will be given with interview techniques were needed, and the participants will have access to a telephone, stationary and assistance with the preparation of a CV.
